Summary
We seek an experienced Building Automation Controls Assistant Project Manager to support complex projects within the commercial mechanical construction sector. This role is essential for ensuring the successful planning, coordination, and execution of building automation and control systems, focusing on HVAC, energy management, and integrated building solutions. Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Project Manager in overseeing building automation control projects, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Coordinate the design and implementation of Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems and BACnet protocols, ensuring integration with HVAC, lighting, and other building systems.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and Visio to develop and review system schematics, wiring diagrams, and control sequences.
  • Work closely with equipment manufacturers and vendors, including those familiar with Tridium Niagara, Distech, Alerton, ALC, Johnson Controls Metasys, and Schneider Electric systems, to ensure proper installation and commissioning of control systems.
  • Assist in testing, troubleshooting, and optimizing control systems to ensure optimal functionality and energy efficiency for the client.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience building automation controls, with a local and stable work history.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required. An EIT or PE license is a plus.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Visio is required. Must have hands-on experience with DDC systems and BACnet protocols and be familiar with building automation platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Distech, Alerton, and Johnson Controls Metasys.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interface effectively with project teams, vendors, and clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Requirements
  • Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as Bluebeam, MS Project, and Autodesk platforms (Revit and Navisworks) is preferred.
  • Candidates must understand regional building codes and regulations relevant to San Jose, CA, and the surrounding areas.
