Building Automation Controls Project Engineer

Overview:

Work within the project management division of a full-service self-performing building automation controls construction company with an excellent reputation. Typical responsibilities include estimating (take-off & analysis), scheduling material deliveries and workforce, submitting RFIs (Requests for Information), preparing submittal packages, among other tasks.

Responsibilities:

Assist with coordinating multiple aspects of commercial building automation systems in commercial buildings, including high rises, schools, airports, medical, labs, data centers, pharmaceuticals, stadiums, etc.
Projects include ground-up, installation, and retrofits. They will vary in size and scope from 10k to 1 million+ and include Design-Build, Design-Assist, Design-Bid-Build, Plan-Spec, and Negotiated work.
Balance time between the office and one or multiple job site(s) as needed, and attend all needed meetings (kick-off, pre-construction, coordination, BIM, QC, safety, planning, commissioning, etc.) from project inception to completion.
Work with internal (management, estimating, pre-construction, fabrication, design, detailing, installation, safety, QC, legal, purchasing) stakeholders and external (general contractors, building owners, other subcontractors [such as mechanical and electrical]), suppliers, distributors, and other business partners/vendors.
Assist with surveying, planning and design, value engineering, purchasing, equipment and material deliveries, equipment buyouts, coordination with Field Foreman and Superintendents, prepare conceptual and detailed bid documents, cost estimates, scheduling (Gantt charts and project timelines), submitting change orders and RFIs, review additional construction documents, forecasting, document control, POs, track labor and materials, budgeting (creating, managing, and maintaining), and close-out documentation tasks.

Requirements:

Two or more years of experience in building automation system project engineering, estimating, programming, installation, service, or engineering BAS/controls systems.
Knowledge in commercial building automation systems, verbal and written communication, always on time, and being a reliable team member.
Familiar with federal, state, and local building, ASHRAE, and OSHA safety requirements.
Local and stable work history.

Nice to Have:

Prior hands-on commercial electrical or controls installation, service, repair, programming, design, engineering, estimating, or sales experience.
Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management
HVAC, Electrical, EIT, or PE License.
LEED AP Certification
Construction software experience: AutoCAD, Visio, MS Project, BlueBeam, MS Excel, among other similar applications.
Familiarity with construction accounting.
