Position Summary

The Commercial HVAC/Plumbing Preconstruction Engineer will be integral to our preconstruction team. This role involves a combination of sales, estimating, and engineering responsibilities. You will work closely with our design and construction teams to ensure that projects are scoped correctly, designed efficiently, and executed to meet or exceed customer expectations.

Location

This is a local role based at our San Diego, CA office. Remote work is not an option for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to develop comprehensive project estimates and proposals.
  • Participate in client meetings, providing technical input and engineering solutions
  • Review architectural drawings and specifications to prepare accurate HVAC and plumbing designs
  • Conduct site surveys and interact with contractors to gather necessary data for preconstruction
  • Utilize software tools for design and estimating processes
  • Ensure that all preconstruction activities adhere to industry standards and regulations
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to tight deadlines and budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory
  • EIT (Engineer-in-Training) or PE (Professional Engineer) license is highly preferred
  • Stable work history, demonstrating reliability and professional growth
  • Proven skill set in sales, estimating, and design/engineering
  • Prior experience with large commercial projects is required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be a local candidate residing in or willing to relocate to San Diego, CA
