Summary
We seek a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Preconstruction Engineer to join our Los Angeles, CA team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, focusing on design, project management, and preconstruction activities for mechanical contractors. This role requires expertise in large-scale projects, particularly plumbing, piping, and HVAC systems in labs and heavy mechanical piping environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the preconstruction phase of mechanical projects, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
Collaborate with design and engineering teams to develop detailed project plans and specifications.
Review and analyze project documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Estimate costs and prepare detailed proposals for mechanical systems, including plumbing, piping, and HVAC.
Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to obtain necessary quotes and information.
Provide technical support and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Assist in value engineering efforts to optimize project costs and performance.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
EIT or PE licenses are preferred but not required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in design, project management, or preconstruction roles within the mechanical contracting industry.
Demonstrated experience in large-scale mechanical projects, focusing on plumbing, piping, and HVAC systems.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems design and engineering principles.
Proficient in project management software and tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects in labs and heavy mechanical piping environments.
