Summary

We seek a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Preconstruction Engineer to join our Los Angeles, CA team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, focusing on design, project management, and preconstruction activities for mechanical contractors. This role requires expertise in large-scale projects, particularly plumbing, piping, and HVAC systems in labs and heavy mechanical piping environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preconstruction phase of mechanical projects, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to develop detailed project plans and specifications.
  • Review and analyze project documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Estimate costs and prepare detailed proposals for mechanical systems, including plumbing, piping, and HVAC.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to obtain necessary quotes and information.
  • Provide technical support and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Assist in value engineering efforts to optimize project costs and performance.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • EIT or PE licenses are preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in design, project management, or preconstruction roles within the mechanical contracting industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in large-scale mechanical projects, focusing on plumbing, piping, and HVAC systems.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems design and engineering principles.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects in labs and heavy mechanical piping environments.
