Job Summary
We seek a highly skilled Mechanical Preconstruction Engineer to join our San Diego, CA team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and experience in design, engineering, or project management, particularly within the mechanical contracting industry. This role focuses on preconstruction activities for large projects, including plumbing, piping, and HVAC systems, with a specific emphasis on heavy-focus jobs in the lab and mechanical piping.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project teams during preconstruction to develop detailed mechanical designs and plans.
- Perform comprehensive analyses of mechanical systems, including plumbing, piping, and HVAC, ensuring they meet project specifications and standards.
- Provide technical support and guidance to design and project management teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist in preparing project budgets, schedules, and cost estimates related to mechanical systems.
- Conducted site visits and inspections to ensure design specifications and industry standards compliance.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Prepare and present technical reports, proposals, and project updates to stakeholders.
- Utilize industry software and tools to create and modify mechanical designs and plans.
- A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
- EIT or PE licenses are preferred but not mandatory.
- Must be a local candidate with a stable work history.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in design, engineering, project management, or preconstruction for a mechanical contractor.
- Proven experience with large projects focusing on plumbing, piping, and HVAC systems.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in mechanical engineering and construction.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other industry-specific tools.
