We are an established engineering firm in Orange County, CA, specializing in HVAC and plumbing design services for commercial buildings. We're seeking a seasoned Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join and lead our dedicated team.

Job Description:

The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the design, planning, and development of plumbing and HVAC systems for commercial projects. The role demands proficiency in design software like Revit and the application of sophisticated engineering principles. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical engineering with demonstrable leadership skills and a commitment to mentorship.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise and mentor a team of design engineers, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.

  2. Lead the design and engineering of plumbing and HVAC systems for commercial buildings in line with project requirements, codes, and standards.

  3. Utilize Revit to develop detailed and precise models and plans for plumbing and HVAC systems.

  4. Coordinate with project stakeholders, including architects, contractors, and project managers, to ensure the seamless integration of the plumbing and HVAC design into the overarching project plan.

  5. Review and analyze project documents like specifications and blueprints for accuracy and feasibility.

  6. Conduct site visits and surveys as required to accumulate essential data for design work.

  7. Oversee and manage multiple design projects simultaneously.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.

  2. Minimum of 15 years of design and engineering experience for plumbing and HVAC in commercial buildings.

  3. Proficiency with Revit and other relevant design software.

  4. Active PE license is required; an EIT certification is a plus.

  5. Demonstrated leadership skills and experience mentoring junior engineers.

  6. Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  7. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse project stakeholders.

  8. Must have a stable work history and be local to the Orange County, CA area.
