Overview
We seek an experienced and driven Senior HVAC Estimator to join our growing team in Dayton, OH. In this critical role, you will prepare detailed, accurate estimates for large-scale commercial HVAC projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, project budgeting, and cost analysis, as well as a solid ability to manage the bidding process. Key Responsibilities
Oversee the estimating process for sizeable commercial HVAC projects, including analyzing blueprints, specifications, and technical documents to prepare comprehensive estimates for labor, materials, and equipment costs.
Prepare competitive and accurate bids and proposals for HVAC projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and meeting client expectations.
Continuously monitor and review project costs against estimates, providing strategic recommendations to keep projects on budget. Conduct post-bid analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings and improve future estimates.
Lead and mentor junior estimators, guiding them through estimating and ensuring best practices are followed.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during the estimating phase, building strong relationships and ensuring that client needs are met clearly and transparently throughout the bidding process.
Identify project risks early in estimating and implement strategies to mitigate them. Ensure estimates align with project specifications and company quality standards, contributing to the successful execution of projects.
Qualifications
A high school diploma is required; a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
At least 7-10 years of experience in HVAC estimating, with a proven track record in large-scale commercial construction projects.
Proficient in HVAC systems (including chillers, boilers, duct work, and VAVs), estimating software (Trimble AutoBid, Bluebeam), and design software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
Strong ability to analyze detailed technical drawings and documents to generate accurate cost estimates and identify project efficiencies.
Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring teams with a collaborative approach to solving challenges and meeting project goals.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
Local and stable work history in Dayton or surrounding areas preferred, with a strong focus on long-term career growth in the region.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational ability, with experience managing multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
