Director of Engineering/Chief Engineer, PE - Orange County, CA

Position Overview:

We seek a seasoned Chief Engineer with a robust commercial plumbing and HVAC design background to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be locally based with a stable work history and a deep understanding of the intricacies of large commercial projects. This role will be pivotal in ensuring our engineering projects maintain the highest accuracy, quality, and efficiency standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership: Oversee the design and engineering process, ensuring that all projects adhere to industry best practices and maintain the highest efficiency and quality.

Drawing Review: Review, validate, and approve engineering drawings, ensuring they comply with all relevant codes and standards.

Mentoring & Training: Lead, mentor, and train junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Preconstruction Expertise: Provide essential preconstruction services, ensuring potential issues are identified and addressed before they become critical problems.

Project Management: Oversee large-scale commercial projects, focusing on hospitals (OSHPD, HCAI), labs, data centers, and high-rise structures.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 15+ years of experience in commercial plumbing and HVAC design and engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Valid California PE license.
  • At least 3 years in leadership roles, overseeing teams or significant projects.
  • Proficiency in Revit is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of working on large-scale commercial projects, specifically hospitals (OSHPD, HCAI), labs, data centers, and high-rise structures.
