Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Forensic Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in commercial HVAC and plumbing systems. In this role, you will conduct and manage forensic engineering and failure analysis projects involving HVAC and plumbing systems for a diverse portfolio of commercial, industrial, and residential clients. This position offers an opportunity to leverage your mechanical engineering skills in the unique and growing field of forensic engineering.

Responsibilities

  1. Conduct thorough forensic investigations on HVAC and plumbing system failures, including water leaks, mechanical failures, and equipment malfunctions.
  2. Prepare detailed reports of investigative findings, providing clear explanations and sound conclusions.
  3. Provide expert witness testimony in litigation involving HVAC and plumbing system failures and disputes.
  4. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to determine the cause and extent of failures and recommend appropriate remedial measures.
  5. Review construction documents, maintenance records, and applicable standards.
  6. Provide consultation to clients on preventive maintenance and risk management measures.
  7. Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  1. A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the field of mechanical engineering, with a strong emphasis on commercial HVAC and plumbing systems.
  2. A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from an accredited institution.
  3. Must possess a valid Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  4. Demonstrable ability to provide a stable work history.
  5. Expertise in relevant design software and tools.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Knowledge of applicable building codes, standards, and regulations.
  8. Experience in providing expert testimony in litigations is a plus.
  9. Ability to travel for site inspections as required.

Desirable

  1. Experience in forensic engineering or failure analysis is strongly preferred.
  2. Advanced degree or specialized certification in HVAC or Plumbing is a plus.
