Job Title: Forensic Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Forensic Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in commercial HVAC and plumbing systems. In this role, you will conduct and manage forensic engineering and failure analysis projects involving HVAC and plumbing systems for a diverse portfolio of commercial, industrial, and residential clients. This position offers an opportunity to leverage your mechanical engineering skills in the unique and growing field of forensic engineering.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough forensic investigations on HVAC and plumbing system failures, including water leaks, mechanical failures, and equipment malfunctions.
- Prepare detailed reports of investigative findings, providing clear explanations and sound conclusions.
- Provide expert witness testimony in litigation involving HVAC and plumbing system failures and disputes.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to determine the cause and extent of failures and recommend appropriate remedial measures.
- Review construction documents, maintenance records, and applicable standards.
- Provide consultation to clients on preventive maintenance and risk management measures.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the field of mechanical engineering, with a strong emphasis on commercial HVAC and plumbing systems.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from an accredited institution.
- Must possess a valid Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Demonstrable ability to provide a stable work history.
- Expertise in relevant design software and tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of applicable building codes, standards, and regulations.
- Experience in providing expert testimony in litigations is a plus.
- Ability to travel for site inspections as required.
Desirable
- Experience in forensic engineering or failure analysis is strongly preferred.
- Advanced degree or specialized certification in HVAC or Plumbing is a plus.
