Job Description:
We seek a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team in New York City. This role is pivotal in providing accurate and competitive cost analyses for commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating and proficiency in relevant software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze project plans and specifications to prepare commercial construction project time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Evaluate construction methods and identify cost-effective alternatives.
- Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- For precise estimating processes, use specialized software, such as Trimble AutoBid, Bluebeam, or similar.
- Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
- Conduct site visits and gather information necessary to make accurate estimations.
- Liaise with other professionals, including architects, engineers, and contractors.
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Keep track of the latest industry trends and cost fluctuations.
Qualifications:
- Local to New York City with a stable work history.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial construction estimating.
- Experience with large commercial projects is essential.
- Proficient in estimating and scheduling software (e.g., Trimble AutoBid, Bluebeam).
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
