Position Overview:

We are currently seeking an experienced HVAC-BAS (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning - Building Automation Systems) Start-Up/Service Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC start-up and service for RTUs (Rooftop Units), split systems, VRFs (Variable Refrigerant Flow), and controls installation. Experience in service, start-up, point to point, graphics, and programming is a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Perform installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of HVAC systems including RTUs, split systems, and VRFs.
  2. Handle controls installation, adjusting settings to optimize performance and ensure system stability.
  3. Perform start-up procedures on new HVAC systems, ensuring proper operation and compliance with design specifications.
  4. Conduct point to point testing, verifying the correct operation of controls and systems.
  5. Review and interpret system blueprints, specifications, and performance data to determine configuration and purpose of system components.
  6. Provide exceptional customer service, maintaining effective communication with clients and team members.
  7. Stay updated on industry standards and safety regulations to ensure work is performed to code.
  8. Assist in training junior technicians, fostering a positive learning environment.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Must be local to Cedar Rapids, IA.
  2. Stable work history demonstrating reliability and dedication.
  3. Possession of EPA Universal Certification.
  4. Proven experience in HVAC start-up and service, particularly with RTUs, split systems, and VRFs.
  5. Experience in controls installation, start-up, and service.
  6. Knowledge of point to point testing and graphics preferred.
  7. Familiarity with programming is a plus.
  8. Strong problem-solving skills, with an ability to troubleshoot and repair issues promptly.
  9. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
