With headquarters in the San Francisco Bay Area, we specialize in large-scale commercial projects across various sectors, including stadiums, educational institutions, hospitals, laboratories, and data centers. We are seeking a Director of Engineering, PE, for our HVAC/Plumbing division to guide our team and projects to new heights of success.

Position Summary

As the Commercial HVAC/Plumbing Director of Engineering, you will lead our engineering team and oversee the design, preconstruction, and project management activities. Your role will include strategic leadership in sales, estimating, and engineering design, ensuring that our projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This high-impact role requires a deep understanding of commercial HVAC/plumbing engineering and strong leadership capabilities.

Location

This is a local position based in our San Francisco Bay Area office. Remote work is not an option for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and technical leadership for the HVAC/plumbing engineering division
  • Oversee the design, engineering, and preconstruction phases of large commercial projects.
  • Mentor and guide a team of engineers, designers, and drafters
  • Utilize Revit, HAP, and other engineering software for design and analysis
  • Engage in sales, estimating, and client relationship management
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and state and local regulations
  • Participate in bid proposals, client presentations, and contract negotiations
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering department

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or higher educational qualification
  • A valid California PE (Professional Engineer) license is mandatory
  • A minimum of 12 years of design experience in HVAC/plumbing engineering
  • At least four years in a leadership or managerial role
  • Expertise in Revit and HAP software
  • Extensive experience in a range of commercial projects, including stadiums, schools, hospitals, labs, and data centers
  • Stable work history demonstrating career growth and commitment
  • Sales, estimating, preconstruction, and project management experience 
  • preferred
  • Must be a local candidate residing in or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area
