Overview
An orthodontist is responsible for examining, diagnosing, and treating dental malocclusions and oral cavity anomalies; designing and fabricating appliances to realign teeth and jaws. Examine patients to determine the nature of the condition affecting the patient, utilizing x-rays, dental instruments, and other diagnostic procedures to choose treatment plans.
The Orthodontist is responsible for providing preventive and restorative orthodontic care for all patients, diagnosing and treating orthodontic abnormalities, and instructing staff to assist patient treatment. Responsible for fitting patients for dentures, braces, and other orthodontic appliances.
Responsibilities
Use various diagnostic tests to determine the condition of patients’ teeth.
Lead the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of dental malocclusions and oral cavity anomalies
Utilize cutting-edge treatments and technology such as INBRACE© and other orthodontic appliances to treat patients
Educate patients about ongoing orthodontic care and proper oral hygiene methods
Study patient records, including dental histories, plaster models of teeth, and X-rays to develop treatment plans for patients.
Discuss treatment plans and cost estimates with patients.
Treat occlusion issues and other oral conditions.
Schedule regular checkups with patients to adjust orthodontic appliances, such as tightening braces and tracking patient progress.
Educate patients about ongoing orthodontic care and explain proper oral hygiene methods for good oral health.
Requirements
Three or more years of Ortho experience at a dental practice
Dental degree from an accredited university, DDS/DMD
Certification from accredited orthodontic program
Experience with lingual braces
